They used the half sole on them, but I don't mind. Hopefully I can get it together to do an 11 eyelet in Cherry with the thicker Street sole. I have to order a dozen of one style to do the custom boots.

I see the soles are Solovair but are they made on the same lasts as the Solovair Hawkins? Just eyeballing I would guess that they are.

Speaking of astronauts, I know a lot of the originals have dismissed any connection to NASA personnel being progenitors of the look as they would have been considered old men, but there is a lot of style on display on this 1965 field trip to Iceland.

I would say progenitors to the look of the 80s, think its been mentioned on here that bombers were not as common in the original era.

There's definitely evidence of MA-1s being worn by the originals

That must be the ultimate, turned in on itself, Frankenstein product. The DM Desert Monkey boot. Purely deductive, nothing innovative at all. Like a dead-end fossil, impossibly inbred. Wear with a Fred Sherman monkey-harrington

That made me chuckle.

DM has some even darker sins in their closet currently, like their LWB's with basketball sneaker soles.
