You had a ditch? I had a fucking abyss
We used to dream of abysseses.
We lived at the bottom of a lake!
I noticed today that Matalan have some casual trousers for £16 that at a glance look a bit like like jungle greens that have been washed and faded. Two fly-style pockets at the hip, a couple of button pockets to the rear, belt loops, and importantly no thigh-pockets. A bit slimmer in the leg, but actually that's no bad thing. I think these are they.
They also have a navy blue bomber jacket that's as close to what I wore in 67 as any I've seen lately. Plus they have some decent Wranglers for £35.
Edit: The links are bad, so I'm going to try to make images instead.
Further to the above, the trousers pictured are NOT the ones I saw in the store, they're actually better (i.e. much more like jungle greens) and cheaper than the ones in the store. I have now ordered a pair.
I ordered those from the Levi's site that TWD posted earlier. They should be arriving Wednesday, I'll give my review then.
Seems like there is jungle greens mania at the moment, maybe the fashionistas are taking stuff from here, will be interesting to see the trousers you fellas have bought turn out.
Meanwhile, here are my new boots.
Anyone in the Manchester area, I hope you and yours are well and safe. Horrific stuff.
Now, here I am quoting and contradicting myself. The Matalan web site shows the strides definitely as green. The ones that came through to me 'click-and-collect' at Matalan were the 'washed out' version I saw hanging up. However - this is the weird bit - on the racks they were ticketed at £16. On line they were £12, and that's what I paid. When they arrived there was a £16 ticket on them. So it seems I saved £4 on them simply by buying on line.
They seem okay, as the fuzzy photo below suggests. They are slightly heavier than my old dockers from 1969 were, and there is a detail on the rear pocket, but apart from that they'll do. In fact they'll do very nicely at that price!
Yay, my first pair of dm boots (late 70s) were 6 hole grain leather, something I could return to
Thanks for the good wishes, pal.
Happy - maybe not the best word - to say my family are all fine.... such a tragedy.
