First of all, apologies for the photos that follow.
I have a blue tweed sportcoat that is missing the buttons from its (3 x working) cuffholes. It's a two-button half Norfolk style with flapped patch pockets and a half belt (but no action back). The fabric is a mid blue with some burnt orange woven into it. The existing buttons are an unusual design in a light brown/taupe.
Any advice much appreciated on the following questions:
1) Do I remove the current buttons and replace them with a whole new set or try to match the current buttons?
2) If I were to remove the current buttons, what colours and materials might look attractive? I'm opposed to white/cream as it would look spivvy against the mid-blue and wouldn't be in keeping with the country aesthetic.
3) In either case where might I source the buttons (a whole new set, or buttons to closely match the current ones)?
4) I'm loathe to have a seamstress in New Haven do the work on the buttons. Having read reviews, I was thinking of taking this to LNC in New York. Is that a sound idea?
