It's generally not done. However, I'm an advocate for more fur on men. Here in Canada, it's cold, and fur is practical, natural, and durable. I wear fur mitts, a fur trapper hat, a short sheared beaver coat (dyed black) and a full-length unsheared beaver coat on occasion (not all at once!). It's dodgy, but I think Canadians have more of a tradition of it (Hudson's Bay Company and all).
One interesting thing that I didn't know is that the traditional beaver hats weren't made from the pelts, but from a felt made up of the hairs.
