I was wondering if anyone can help. I just had a shitload of photos disappear from the computer. You can still see them listed in the tree on the left hand side of the screen, but when you click on one of the folders I get a message that says: "(filename) refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive, on this computer or on a network. If it still is not located it might have been moved to a different location."

Now, they are not in the recycle bin, so I didn't trash them. How can I find out where the hell they are?

Do a search for your entire hard drive for one of the file names. Hopefully they just got moved somewhere.

Sounds like they were on a drive that got removed. That would mean either a digital camera (highly likely), a USB key, a CD/DVD, or, worst case, a failed hard drive or partition. I'm betting on digital camera.

What program are you using to view/navigate them?
