Yes. Sean Penn's performance is stunning. The range of his acting, just from Mystic River to Milk, is amazing. The supporting cast is also very good. The story is well-told.

(Now if only Penn could do better with his political interventions>)

He didn't move to Frisco till he was in his 20's IIRC. He went to SUNY Albany.
