Middlemarch

Is it as good as people say? I am drawing up my winter break reading list and am considering putting Middlemarch at the top.

I liked it so much I read it twice. The last time was a couple of years ago. It ain't short, but the characters are interesting and the writing's good.

A professor whom I respect very much said that Middlemarch was the best novel ever written, along with Pride and Prejudice. Take that as you will, I suppose.

I'm partial to Thomas Mann, but to each his own.

I did like it.

Virginia Woolf wrote that it was one of the few books written for adults.
