Mezlan, Manganinni, TBNY

I wondered if anyone could provide some insights on these brands. On a recent trip to the US I noticed these very prominently on sale at Saks Off Fifth and Nordstrum Rack amongst others. However I could not understand their provenance.

In terms of pricing, they allege to be fully priced at $600+, and at sales they tended to be $200 - $300. TBNY were slightly lower than this. However I could not see if they were actually sold anywhere else. Are these brands "in-house" suppliers to department stores? How do they compare to Saks' own shoe brand in which case?

There have been other threads on here discussing the quality of Mezlan, less so the other two. However I am looking more for answers on how these brands actually sit and which brands are comparable in terms of price and quality.

These are not house brands, but they are definitely mid-tier brands. To Boot New York was a brand that peaked in about 1998. Sort of a Macy's Staple. Manganinni I have seen most often at lower priced boutiques and outlet stores. For your $300, you can get a better shoe than any of the above.

I wouldn't pay $300 for any of those. Spend a bit more ($100-$200) and you can get something of much better quality...i.e., Crockett & Jones, Carmina, J. Fitzpatrick, etc.

With Mezlan, you are definitely paying for the design and skins, neither of which I personally like. To boot seems to cut a lot of corners in how they make a shoe. Better to look at an Alden or find sale on a carmina, Gravati, or C and J.
