I have some older wingtips and they have all leather heels.
There is a metal plug/slug. Does anyone have something like this? Does it ever cause slipping?

you could do a temporary thing like capping the heel (which might not look or feel good), or you could permanently re-sole the back part of the heel with rubber (or some other hard-wearing material).

i'm not an expert though - others may have better suggestions.
