I got my Krane bag (it's the Walter Brief) on a deep discount and since I don't ever use the strap, I'm not that annoyed by it. Maybe I'm just the unlucky and got a shitty bag. [IMG]

ubiquitous as hell, but the J. Crew canvas messenger is pretty solid quality actually. 128 retail, snag it on sale in august before school.

The reason I started this thread is so I could find a alternative to backpacks, which I usually find very ugly. I now realize that it's going to be impossible to find a messenger bag that will meet all of my needs, so I've decided to just get both. :p

Definitely going to keep my eye out for a canvas backpack, as the ones I've seen are actually quite nice. J Crew website is down atm, unfortunately.

A polished turd is still a turd and a 'messanger bag' is still a man purse.

Do your knuckles and drool touch the ground when you walk?

I like some of the margiela bags i've seen floating around on ebay and online retailers in the past year. Don't know where to consistently track them down though. What is that bag you posted?

By ebay for cheap, i meant to actually get vintage bags. You could pay a lot ($300-800) for current brands that do similar things (like MA+) or get an older bag on ebay used for cheaper.

Yeah, well I do wear it across my body, it's still heavy as hell. I always have to change shoulders every 30 seconds. Anyone else have an explanation?

Messengers can wear this kind of bag because they spend most of their time leaning forward on a bike. The load rests snug on the lower back so all the weight isn't on your one shoulder.
