I don't understand you guys. Can't you even despise a person properly? If I despise somebody, I couldn't possibly be bothered to look at or even take advantage of his contributions. You're all whining over the removal of my content, but other than that I might as well go to hell ASAP. Don't you see that my (questionably wrong or at least condemnable) impulse of pulling all my content resulted into me destroying my own little monument? I was so pissed with SF as an institution that I wanted to erase every proof that I had ever been here. Other than that, I honestly wanted to leave in silence. However, bringing back my wiki piece was just uncool. The guy's an ass but let's bring back his piece? Hey, it really could have been left at that. As I said, do a respectable job at despising people! I have torn down my monument - that's punishment enough. If you think I suck then be straight forward enough to let go of my work too! And J, you could have had the guts of getting in touch with me instead of running out in the open screaming for help. You created this monster here.

this thread is probably better off locked and the parties relevant to the matter should PM/email each other and deal with however they want.

As someone who does not despise Sysdoc or anyone on this forum (life is really way too short), let me say that I think that human beings are complex and nuanced enough that one can appreciate aspects of a person's contributions and not appreciate other aspects. I do not see it as a zero-sum game. I think it perfectly reasonable to enjoy and appreciate the contributions of persons with whom I might have fundamental disagreements. For example, I found much of Frank Sinatra's personal views and treatment of others to be often objectionable, but have no difficulty enjoying his music.

What have I come back to? Why does this man keep talking if he wants to leave silently? Perhaps I had best return to Kitchen Stadium.

You made an unreasonable request and threatened legal action, therefore I had no choice but to bring it to the attention of the forum. I do not make a habit of negotiating with people once they threaten me.

You are welcome to revise your request, or address it to each member whom you think is now violating your copyright.

This whole thing is amazingly similar to the whole argument that FilmNoirBuff started over intellectual property at Ask Andy.

And the end results of that dustup was the creation of another sandbox where Sysdoc can go play if he insists on acting like a big baby.

Don't let the door hit your double-vented suit behind on the way out.

I feel honored. I've been mentioned by name without posting even once.

Having absolutely no dog in this fight I'd like to offer some info on IP. I'm not a lawyer, but a while back I was in a consulting business with three others. One of the partners wrote a book on a particular type of business consulting and what we did was based on that model. However, the consulting process was not developed or originated by him; rather the book was his take on it and some explanation of it. The guy insisted the book was his IP and insisted on very high royalties every time we used the process.

The other three of us hired a nationally known IP expert (testified in front of Congress and various trade commissions, headed business programs at universities, etc.) and were told the following:

IP is when someone invents something; either a device, a process or something that can be pattented. Books are not IP as they are published and are in the public domaine so anyone can use it. For example, if a a bespoke tailor wrote a book on how they make suits, they can't expect a royalty every time someone uses the book as a guide on how to make suits. They may sue for copywrite infringement under certain circumstances, but they have no IP.

There's more to the story but I'll stop there.

Sorry to see Sysdoc go as I always enjoyed his posts. I'm assuming he's continuing to post over at AA?

Recently I have been the target of childish "vendetta" trolls by otherwise respectable people.

Although I don't view Sysdoc as anyone like that above, I feel this has a certain petty quality to it.

I stand behind this 100%. (Note to all, j. did not coerce me. And, neither of us are lawyers.)

Now, I am going to lock this thread, because it's gone far enough.
