Message Board Security/Identity

I belong to another message board where one of the members has been able to routinely provide accurate information (name, age, street address) of other members. You can ask him how old you are and he'll shoot back an answer in 2 minutes. He's never screwed anyone over and is held in high regard for not using his talent unless asked. Chances are he is a mod using another handle and tracking IP but even then I didn't think you could glean that much information. Anyone have a clue as to how he is doing this?
