Hey All,

I've come for some help from the experts here. While looking at careers I've seen the words Merchandiser and Merchandise Planner (sometimes just Planner) come up a lot. Are these two the same type of role? If they are different could someone help me understand the key differences and they work?

Best

Hi Boris,

I realize it's been a year, but maybe I can help clear this up if anyone else has any questions. As it plays into my roles, a planner or merchandise planner is more of a numbers position where a person evaluates a stores needs based on units that have sold, units on hand, growth trends, and sales projections. A merchandiser is more likely to be a hands-on position for someone who physically sets up a store. This is someone who would be responsible for creating in-store displays and making things beautiful.
