Heading to Rome soon and haven't been there in ages. I would appreciate suggestions for quality menswear and sportswear retailers. Probably in the market for knitwear, suede jacket and some accessories. I will also be heading to Florence for a longer period of time, but would enjoy exploring retailers unique to Rome.

Depends what location you want. Two really nice central hotels are the Artemisia and the Quirinale, which are within easy walking distance of the maximum number of sights. On the other side of the Tiber, right by the Ponte Cavour, is the Sant'Angelo, which is also a very nice place to stay.

Thanks, I will look into those.

Hotel Majestic, Five stars Stayed there September' 14.
Superb service and excellent food- I had dinner there too.
There are more interesting restaurants in Rome but the
setting of their dining area on a balcony overlooking the
Via Veneto can't be beat.

See dining area in photo above.

Retailer: Battistoni on the Via dei Condotti. High end menswear.
More than the merchandise, the store is absolutely gorgeous..
one of the best-looking mens shops I've ever visited.

For London I recommend checking out the Anderson and Shepard
Haberdashery. RTW and MTM attended by relaxed and knowledgeable
staff.

Also, Drakes I found surprisingly affordable for the style/quality.
The sweater that I wanted was not available in my size.

Florence: Ottino leather goods. My 35 year old briefcase from there
still looks good and the original lock works!

Schostal. Nothing fancy. Good store for simple, quality stuff - cotton and wool socks, sweaters in nice fabrics. The basics.

Thanks for these suggestions. Battistoni is on my list. Will check out the hotel.

I love the Anderson & Shepard RTW shop. That is one of my favorite stops in London. During my last visit Drakes was just getting underway with apparel at the new store and I also found it to be an excellent value/great style.
