Does anyone have an opinion on the colette store in paris? If you haven't been there yet it's the tuileries stop on the 1 train. My inquiry was that I wanted to gather your opinions on the store - I seem to hear more and more about it every time I visit a high fashion store here in NY. I thought it was just some other store in Paris till two weeks ago. Do you guys like colette? [IMG]

It's a very fine store that has a juxtaposition of traditonal exclusive labels like Goyard, and Garrad with the avant-garde such as Hussein Chalayan, and Haider Ackermann.

Similar to 10 Corso Como in Milan.

Colette is one of the hotter stores I've seen in any city. Its pretty touristy now compared to several years ago, but still I was going there 2 to 3 times a month when I was living in France and every time there would be new product--much of which you couldn't get elsewhere. They do alot of exclusives, like their guerilla store collaboration with Comme des Garcons in Tokyo. They also just generally have things first. The dior-homme high tops were there before I saw them anywhere else. Its not really just the clothes though, its the whole atmoshphere, i.e. the background music and ridiculously hot clientele. Sadly, there is not a store that really compares in NYC. Moss is cool, but it is furniture and design oriented, whereas Colette has whatever is currently hip. Alot of the music there can't be readily found anywhere else, the same is true for their book selection. Its not just another store is what I'm trying to say. Really, its worth it to go there just to people watch the crowd that gathers outside.
