This is all just iGentist propaganda. Any Advanced member can tell you that people back then were no better dressed than people today. Those olden day photographers are probably wearing adidas tracksuits beneath their 3-piece suits.

To take those photographers' attire as representative of photographers of their time is unrealistic. It was a swearing-in of a major public figure, by photographers for probably major newspapers. Anyway, they certainly are dressed well, helped in no small part by the availability of tailoring.
