Now for a weird question. I bought the navy version of this as a rain hat. It seemed to be a nice hat to use in the pouring rain and I liked the look of it. It is made of waxed cotton and variously described as being a bushman's hat and/or a fedora. Doing a few searches of the net, I then noticed that it was mostly advertised as a woman's hat. However, I bought it in the X-large size as I take a size 62 in hats. My weird and hopefully not a sexist question is: is it Ok for a man to wear a hat that is designated a woman's hat? It occurred to me that both men and women wear beanies, bucket hats, scarves, jeans and so on...what about hat of this sort? This is, by the way, a serious question!

Doesn't look like a feminine hat to me. I see no issue with a man wearing it.

Not to mention the big Barbour logo on the side; I certainly associate them with their field jackets for men
As if on cue, the rain poured down today and the hat remained completely waterproof. Lots of beads of water running off it but no change of shape or ingress. Woman's hat or not, this one is a keeper for the winter in rainy Wales. Thanks for your encouragement guys.

I just discovered this thread, thanks to a link to it on the main page. Funny, because I went looking for a thread on hats just yesterday and didn't find this one. Anyway, here is one of my Stetsons; I don't know the name of the model. The photos are from a few days ago. Today I am wearing the Biltmore President that is shown in my profile photo, which is one of my two favorite hats.

One of my two favorite hats: Dobbs Golden Coach, purchased at the now-defunct Byrnie Utz Hats of Seattle. Subsequent to the closure of said shop I learned that the space that it occupied is the very same in which my grandfather had a cobbler's shop about a hundred years earlier.

So with the winter coming up, what hats do you normally break out to stay warm?
