Talking about a period of time. The other day I came across the receipt for the first hat I got from Optimo. It was for $349!

I want to say my first was around $250. They'd yet to cross the $300 mark. Graham looked like he was in high school.

What year was that? I got the first hat Sept 01. Got another one year later and I think it jumped up to $375?? I just priced a hat in blue and depending on fabric it was $650 or $1000

It was 1997 or 98, just a year or so after Graham took control and began selling under the Optimo banner. Almost right out of the box there were pieces in the Trib and on local teleivision about the shop.

Your terminology is a bit confused. A Panama is a straw hat, of any shape, woven in Ecuador of the leaves of the toquilla plant. Now, are you asking what shape of Panama hat would be best for you?

Yes, it appears that's what I'm asking. I thought Panama was a certain shape. I seem to have been mistaken.

I am headed to the tropics, and want a straw hat. I have a straw trilby that is very "fashion-y" and casual. I love wearing it with shorts, but want something I can wear with summer suits, etc.
