I'm looking to get a pair of black and a pair of brown dress boots. I'd like to spend around $150 or less, but I want them to be of pretty high quality.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

It would be great if they were American made, but it's not the most important aspect.

Depends on your size. I had to have boots custom made to fit disturbingly long and narrow feet. If yours are more toward the middle of the bell curve, Allen Edmonds on eBay might be worth a look to hit the desired price point.

Depends on "high quality" since AE will run you around $250-$350 and Alden will be >$400. I have no personal experience with other American made boots.

You might be able to get 'seconds' or used boots for $150 but then the question is supply X quality.

If you are open to suggestions, instead of getting 2 boots at $150 each, get 1 good boot for $300. Either way, best of luck.

the most inexpensive dress boots I have are the AE Fifth street boots, which I purchased for 200 dollars as seconds. I think they were a good value.

You can always check zappos outlet 6pm and see what they have in your size.

Thank you all for the great advice. I've found quite a few Alden and Allen Edmonds on Ebay for under $150 each.

I'm not sure to what extent these are dress boots, and Bexley does get some bad rep on French shoe forums. Why not pay a little more and look at Markowski or Meermin?
