Mens black shoes that go well with jeans

Okay so I have been reading, and I understand that shiny black dress shoes do not go well with jeans. However, I would like to know, are there any black or grey shoes that may go well with a black dress shirt, wool coat and jeans? I was thinking of purchasing a pair of shoes, but I am not sure what I should get. I don't really want to spend over $150 though.

Why are you set on black shoes?

If you are dead set on them, don't wear a black dress shirt, wear white, or a gray shirt. It keeps the palate looking better. I used to wear a pair of black wingtips with raw denim and a mid grey button down collar back in college.

Also, you could put a slight cuff on the jeans, this way the transition from dark blue to black shoes is more gradual. Basically, black shoes are more formal than brown so you want to go with the most casual of black shoes so to speak to make it work.

So my offerings are black wingtips, black chelsea boots, black jodhpur boots, doc marten style boots, or any black dress shoe that is beat up if you want to go for the nonchalant hipster look if that's your thing.

But yeah, don't under any circumstances wear a black dress shirt.

I guess I was sold on black because I have a black coat and I figured brown shoes wouldn't go with it. What about grey chukka boots? Do those go well with jeans?

I hate chukka boots almost as much as I hate grey shoes. No.

Hey guys! Just joined up to this forum Personally, I love wearing black dress shoes with my jeans. But I think it only applies to certain type of jeans. For example, I would not wear black shoes with normal cut jeans. Definitely has to be skinny or at least slim cut.

So this photo im wearing Ksubi skinny jeans with Ben Sherman dress shoes. I believe, to wear black dress shoes, you have to wear dark jeans. Im not a big fan of light coloured jeans with black shoes. Just doesnt seem right. If you have dark navy jeans like mine, see if you can get yourself dark brown shoes. I think it goes really well together. I also like to wear loafers with my jeans as well. Everyone has their own style and no style is right or wrong. If you like a certain style and you think it suits you then wear it. Who cares what other people think. Hope this helped.

The only leather shoes I like wearing with jeans are boots. Have you looked into Chelsea boots or cowboy boots?

Okay so I am guessing I should scratch the whole black shoe idea since they really aren't built for jeans. I am interested in boots though. How about these? I kinda like them. Would they go well with jeans?

I personally don't care for that style. I would try to find some either used or seconds of Crockett & Jones, Alden, or Allen Edmonds. Even Church's, or Trickers and such on fleabay.
