I've been intrigued by the boutineer with a suit idea for a while now. I think it's unique and shouldn't be condemned to junior prom, but conflicted about one thing: do you have to head to the florist every time you'd like to pin a flower to your suit or can you purchase a silk alternative without looking foolish?

I say grab a flower whenever the opportunity presents itself - nip a crocus from the front lawn, pinch a bud from a window box, swipe a petal from a streetside bush. Keep it small and keep it real.

I'm taking the "keep it real" part of the reply as literal and in the sense of strutting confidently with it too. Thanks!

Oldog has one a lot. It is a nice touch, but it, without a doubt would get a lot of snarky comments if you are too young.

I walk to church about 20 minutes every Sunday and manage to find a decent flower for my lapel on the way. It's charming and invites conversation.

Last week the grounds keeper chased me out of the cemetery.

I wish I had a better shot of this man at the Marina Abromovic exhibit at MoMA last summer. I thought he looked great with the flower in his lapel.
