I usually wear shorts in summer, as do most of my coworkers, but this is not the best look for a middle aged man. I can wear jeans or chinos, but am tempted to buy linen. I want to avoid anything I have to dry clean - quick ironing, air drying or cold wash is not a problem. I see a lot of expensive dress pants, and a lot of cheap pants with draw strings. I want something casual and not too expensive, but I don't think I can wear draw string pants at work.

I would go with a linen blend instead of 100% linen. I've purchased a few from Brooks Brothers Golden Fleece line, when it was on sale, and these work for me. I usually take them to the dry cleaners for a press only service, to keep them looking nice. I could do it myself but linen is more work than other materials

I’ve got several as I live in Florida where it’s hot and steamy nine months of the year. Linen strides are a much better look than shorts, and no less comfortable. I don’t do draw strings either. I’ve had several over the years from the likes of INC or Tasso Elba, both available cheap at Macy’s if you want to give ‘em a try without sinking a load of cash in. Wash cold, hang dry and they usually iron easily with a spritz of water if needed. Good luck!
