Dear Gentlemen of Styleforum,

I've recently increased my internet clothes spending by purchasing a pair of English shoes and a tweed jacket. I got a little bit of a cold shower when I realized that sizes vary much more than I thought even across Europe, hence this question.

Are there fundamental differences among shirts produced for the Italian market and, say the German or British market? Does any of you have any hard data that might explain the difference?

Regards,
AK

I don't know about hard data . Even if you could find it the stuff varies between companies so much it likely would be a rough guide at best.

I routinely hear complaints from Brits about Italian clothes being too small/fitted for them. That includes classic fit Italian shirts . They aren't talking about slim (by Italian standard) shirts.

As I travel through Europe my size tends to increase regardless of the size
systems in effect in various countries. I think it might be the result of the
buffet breakfast(s) included in the price of my hotels.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
