I am a newbie and hopefully this is on topic. I finally found a pair of jeans that look good on me...Lucky Brand 221 Original Straight Jeans. I am 6" and about 180 lbs...tall and slender with skinny ankles The jeans fit nice with my frame because they are slim fit and the shorter leg opening are great for my skinny ankles. I am in between waist sizes 33 and 34. The 33s are a little snug and the 34s fit just right. I thought about going with the 34s, but they should stretch due to the 3.5% spandex material (96.5% cotton) and be too big. Should I go with the 33s since they will stretch? That's what the sales associate at the store recommended. I am so used to wearing baggy jeans, so the slim fit feels different, but they look great on me.

I am also in between length sizes as well...32s are a tag long (more breaking than I like, but not dragging)and 30s are just right, but maybe no room for error if they shrink. Should I go for the 32s and have them shortened? Anyway, it stinks being in between sizes. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Might not seem like a big deal, but I want to make the right decision before I drop $99 on a pair of jeans.

The waist is starting to stretch, but may go back and try the 34s. Here are a few pics of the length. What do you think?

I say 33 30s unless you're willing to hem them. They should be pre-shrunk and jeans that are too loose or too long just don't look good.

Also at 6' I'm surprised the 30s work for you. I'm the same height and weight and wear 32" inseam. If they're just to the bottom of my heel but not touching the floor when shoeless they're perfect for me.

99.9% of population wont notice or care. But if you're asking for our opinion size down 1-2x or at least hem them a bit. Kind of baggy and too long, not a good look in my opinion

The jeans are touching the floor when I am shoeless. At least 1/2" below my shoeless heal. Not good, right? I'll go back and try the 30s. I thought they fit ok. Worse case scenario, I'll have the 32s hemmed.

They do look baggy at the bottom. 30s or hem the 32s.

So, you think I'd be better off with the 30s? These shoes are low and relatively flat. Boots with a larger sole and heel with actually make the jeans look even baggier I think.

It sounds to me that you are in between 30 and 32s. I encounter this delemma sometimes depends on the brand so what I usually do is I will buy the 32s and take it to my tailor and figure out what's the best for me. When I go I usually wear the style of shoes that I'll most likely wear with that pair of jeans/pants just in case.

hope that helps.

I plan on going back to the Lucky Brand store this week to try the 30s on. If they are too short, then I'll get the 32s hemmed.

The 32s do seem messy at the bottom. A lot of "breaking" going on down there. Hemming or the 30s will do the trick. I'll report back after I try on the 30s.

+1 And going shoeless is actually recommended over wearing those shoes.

So, you are saying the best way to size the length of jeans is to try them on shoeless? Zackb911 also recommended that....they should just go to the bottom of the heel but not touch the floor when shoeless.

Shoeless pic...They are definitely touching the floor and then some.
