Anyone have one? Thinking about throwing one on top of my uncomfortable ****** ikea mattress. Any suggestions for a specific brand? The Spa Sensation ones on Wal-Mart's website got really good reviews, but they don't ship to Canada and it's not available in stores here.

Anyone?

The Wall Street Journal reviewed mattress toppers in the last few years. Check out their reviews.

I use one on top of my latex Ikea mattress (which I like very much, but it's super firm). I bought a cheap version on overstock.com, but it acts like memory foam and I'm happy with it.

I dont like them. They are very hot to sleep on, and they get extremely dirty. Get a feather top instead.

Do you know which brand? Think I'm going to go with Slumber Solutions, pretty good reviews across the board. edit: looking like shipping is the same price as the topper itself...eep..

I probably bought one of the Serta ones, but can't recall with certainty. Overstock must charge extra for shipping to Canada. Within the U.S., shipping on anything (including furniture) is three or four bucks.

+1.

I also find they don't offer the kind of support necessary for two people sleeping near each other. The contact with the gf is nice, but it seems like the mattress topper pushes us together .. that combined with her dogs .. and it gets so hot that it is impossible to get a good night sleep.

We've resorted to sleeping with the dogs between us, which is sub-optimal.

Check www.nontoxicbeds.com Haven't tried them before, let us know how it is. They have tips on how to have your ordered bed avoid the government regulation, that way it doesn't have to contain toxins like arsenic, melamine, decabromodiphenyl oxide and formaldehyde.

How old is your Ikea mattress? If it's too old a topper wont help.

I have a featherbed topper from amazon.com, don't remember the seller but it had the best reviews. It's great!

I owned a memory foam bed from Overstock. It was bliss for 2 years. Then it was total crap.

I've tried memory foam toppers. If you have a bed that's uncomfortable, adding a topper doesn't really help IME.

I just bought a new mattress pad from Amazon that got good reviews. Not really a featherbed, but an extra thick and soft mattress pad. $49 shipped. I'll let you know.

This is a tough call. A good mattress should last 6 to 8 years (once quoting over 10 are usually bullshit), but if it's from Ikea it may not have been the best construction. Maybe you should look it over and examine if it's worth getting a new bed. You can score a quality mattress for $500 to $600 at any of the chains if you know how to bargain.

I think a thin layer of memory foam is ok if used as a topper.
