hp 12c, excel, google calculator for quick stuff, even does currency conversions (don't trust their rates but usually not too far off)

we use SAS & FinCAD quite a bit but those are not really calculators . . .

I need to start an SF career thread. Do you think people we be willing to share what they do to possibly menton people going into said field? An open dialogue with professionals would be very useful.

Qualifier Plus IIx for mortgage

But I'm really liking good ol' Excel spreadsheets for underwriting financials. Although nothings automatic like ont he QP+ & you have to build your own formula's, at least you can customize it to quantify almost any outcome you need.

I think this would be a really good idea. I think we have a broad range of professions on SF; law, finance, medical to even art and design. We should look into putting something together. Oh and on your question: I use the HP12c also. I think its a pretty nifty calc for finance; quick and efficient. (graphing calcs often have nested menus which make TVM slightly time consuming) It uses the RPN input which seems odd at first but is pretty nice. You can also easily switch it to alg input if RPN isn't your thing. Naturally Excel is the basic for work, but HP is great for quick checks.

I used the 12c way back in the mid 80's when I was in banking. It appears it is still the venerable go-to calculator.
