Just picked up the MeisterSinger No. 03 Automatic Limited Silver/Silver Dial, single hand automatic (courtesy of Watchbuys). I was looking for something elegant, unique and under $2K,... this did it for me.

At 43mm diameter and 11mm thickness it may not satisfy the purist as a dress watch, but I think it works.

I'd appreciate critcal comments from SF chronophiles and the like if you're so inclined. Thanks in advance.

every half year or so i think it is a nice watch (not this special edition though, i am always eyeing on the no 02). then i watch pictures, go to shops and watch it. what really disturbes me every time i see it in vivo is the numbers. "01 - 02 - 03..." . i once read someones comment about this watch what really hits the point: "it looks like a vegetable scale". if the numbers were greek/romanian i would be tempted - but as it is i always step back.

nonetheless it is a more unique one referring to appearance. what is the movement? unitas?

"Fermatto vegetable scala"!!!?...however, I do see you're point. I believe the movement is unitas. Filter out the "vegetable scale",...can you see it as a viable dress watch option?

I liked it until I touched it at the WatchBuys Road Show.

Why do all watches have an exhibition back now?

Most of them aren't that interesting to look at, even the very high-end ones.

Um, silly question, but how does one tell the time then?

I agree LK. Though the Lange backs are very very cool.

The tick marks between the hours are like every 5 or 10 min.

Yes,...twelve "5 minute" spaces between each two digit hour reference.

If you don't mind my asking, what did you like before physically inspecting? What changed you're mind?

Thanks,

I liked the face/design.
I didn't like the weight and finishing.

In this particular case, coz Watchbuys doesn't have a real store, and they carry exclusive brands like this one, hence they bring it around.

I think LK is referring to the display case back.

Too heavy, too light? Regarding finish, was it a lack of precision on matching edges, symmetry, surface appearance or some combination of the above?

The watch is due in a day or so. I'll post again to address points raised above.
