Recently ordered a Sterlingwear Navigator 100% wool pea coat, size 42L. They said I should order my suit size, which I did, and the fit was roomy enough for a thick sweater.

    measurements for:
    Sterlingwear Navigator size 42L
centre back neck to shoulder seam = 10.5"
centre back neck over shoulder to end of sleeve = 37"
centre back neck seam to bottom of coat = 35"
widest part of chest (just under armpits) = 24"
narrowest part of torso = 23"

I just went on the sterlingwear website, they don't carry the "anchor" series anymore.

So what's the closest model to anchor now?

    Damn their prices have risen

I was wondering how the shoulders fit on Fidelity peacoats. An off-the-rack 38L suit fits me pretty well, for reference.

I ordered 2 to try on, both of them are coming in tomorrow. I measure 39 pit-to-pit and I'm sort of worried they won't fit. I got a 36S and a 38S and now I'm wondering if I should have ordered a 40.

    Hi all,

I am still in search of a slimfitted Peacoat with a high collar which stays up and it should feel heavy. I prefer a gray one!
can someone give me some tips?

I really like the following for the shape:

I also really like the Krane peacoat but I don't know where I can order that online. Or has someone his (new, or almost new) Krane for sale?

If your chest measurement is 39" (p2p measurement is for jackets*), then the 38 should fit fine if they are sized the same as the issue pea coats. I think the size 40 would be too large. A 38 should still have enough room for a sweater underneath. Let us know how you like the Spec coat.

*Interestingly, the Navy used this method to measure its recruits in the old days--may still do it. Not as accurate as the full chest measurement, but the supply clerk didn't have to get up close and personal with the recruit, and it was faster. Plus the coats could be tried on immediately to ensure a good fit.

I really don't understand the appeal of Krane. I'm not hating. If you dig it, I say go for it. I just find it a bit incomprehensible.

Got my 2 Specs. I think I'm keeping the 36S. I'll post pics of both the 36S and 38S to inform you good folks as well as take suggestions on fit.

5'6" and 39" pit to pit. If you're contemplating ordering you should wait for me to get some pics up. Also, I think I'm going to defer to the expertise of some of the members here on fit. I think I may be a bit too short in the arms, strangely enough. Anyhoo, will have pics up by tomorrow at the worst. Should have something up in the next 4 hours.
