Do peacoats in general have longer sleeves compared to other jackets. Any peacoat I've ever tried on has had sleeves that felt too long despite fitting well otherwise.

I'm 5'8 165 pounds. My chest measures around 38-39, though most suits I wear are 36S, 38R/S for slimmer brands. What size sterlingwear should I get?

I have a question regarding Sterlingwear Peacoat length...

Are the size charts on their website accurate? They are measuring from the seam at the bottom of the collar, yes? And is this then mean the lengths posted would fall similarly to a sportscoat, blazer, or any other jacket really? Since assuming neck seam falls in similar place for all these pieces.

And does anyone have measurements for shoulders and chest on 36 and 38?

Lastly, for those sizing down 1 size... can you layer a sportscoat/blazer? Or is that too much?

too lazy to take measurements now, but i have a 38 chest and have a 36R navigator. you prob cant wear a blazer under it, but with just a shirt on, it is not slim enough for my liking.

If you could get accurate measurements sometime, put 'em up. It'd be appreciated. I have a 38" chest also... well like 37" measuring near nipples, 38" when higher up and I guess get more of my back or shoulder blades, dunno if that's measuring too high. That seems like an awkward slimness, not enough to layer but not slim enough without layers. Dunno what size I'll go with... But for length, anyone know if the regular and shorts are the same proportions with buttons/pockets/etc? I'm hoping the 30+ inch lengths are accurate, but I've seen a lot of of pictures making them seem pretty short and I have a 30" leather jacket that goes below my butt (I'm short and 28" sportscoat/blazers just cover butt) and want at least that length. Not sure if should go with short or regular. Sleeves don't concern me because can hem. Just want it falling at least a few inches past my butt. Not into the hip or waist high look.

Guys this is a great thread! I previously accepted the fact I would never find a high quality/well fitting peacoat ever until I stumbled on this thread!

I decided to go with a sterling but have a few questions, I need your help to decide which particular model to get! Can't decide on the Authentic, Classic or Navigator. The jacket will be worn in Boston with slacks and a collared shirt (business casual).

I'm tall and skinny (6'3 160 pounds) so my thought process is the 3 button would kind of break up my lengthiness and the 4 button would elongate my appearance (which I don't think I need). I'm thinking about going with the oxford gray so I can wear it with brown and black shoes, but is it worth giving up the 100% wool? Is it possible to go with 100% wool oxford gray (website states 80% wool/20% nylon for colored fabrics) does the wool/nylon blend dramatically effect the quality?

Please let me know your thoughts, and thanks again for putting together such an informative thread!

    Thanks guys!

That jacket is really fucking nice. I had it in an M but sold it since it was a bit too snug. The metal buttons are a nice touch too.

Good to hear you liked it. Havent really heard anything bad from people that have it. I think after an online promotion its right under $200 so might pull the trigger soon.
