Hey bb, how's the 34R fit on you? I'm about the same measurement as you, but I usually go for the shorts.

I would say it's pretty good. I tried the 32R as well and I found myself unable to move that much. I think the 34R is good for me. There are a few pictures on SF.

About to pull the trigger on Sterlingwear authentic 38S. I'm a little over 5' 6", 38.25" chest, 17.5 shoulder-shoulder (I think), and 165lb (if that matters). Just looking for some comfirmation that I'm choosing the right size.

What fit are you looking for?

Nothing too tight as I workout and my weight fluctuates, but form fitting. I see that their size charts list the size 38 coat with a chest size of 36". I'm assuming this is small enough? I want to be able to raise my arms without anything riding up.

After reading the majority of this thread, a few on SUFU and a couple other forums I came to the conclusion that sizing down so much with the Sterlingwear was kind of a weird idea. I called and talked to people from Schott and Sterlingwear and eventually decided to buy the Schott in my actual measured chest size, it came 3 days later.

I'm really very pleased with this coat. I'm a really thin guy and it's a great fit. I'm 5'9", about 140 pounds. My chest size is 32 and my waist is 29. I ordered the 32 and it's surprisingly pretty slim fit. The Sterlingwear all look too boxy and that was my concern. I've already gotten a lot of compliments on it and the coat is incredible quality. I have an original WWII german military overcoat and the Schott is significantly warmer and I think the quality is equal or a little better.

i'm hooked on the camel pantone but am undecided between the navigator and the classic. the only difference i see from specs are the fleece or satin linings, right?

how does a tailor mess up a sleeve? just mark a line where it has to be shortened to. i dont understand that. she is not deserving to be called a tailor

She shortened it to the proper length for a suit coat.

i just need to chime in about how great my experience with sterlingwear has been. fortunately i live just outside of boston, about 15 min from sterlingwears HQ/factory.
after a couple emails i took a ride out there earlier this week and met with michelle. she went above and beyond; showing me all they offered, explaining the differences between all the coats, having me try them on, etc. the one i was after (the classic) wasn't currently stocked, but she went out on the factory floor to find when one would be available and i went back this afternoon when it came off the line.
all in she spent about 45min with me between the two visits which is wonderful especially considering the time of year and how busy things were there. anyone on the fence about ordering one of their coats should do it. everyone i met there was genuine, helpful and they've all been working there for years. the coats are bombproof, made in the USA, and they are cheap as chips relative to most quality US made goods.

I do need to add the caveat that nearly all of their coats with a vent tend to ducktail. ( i tried on everything from one size down, TTS and one size up and they all did this)
i'm a big guy but i have a 12in drop so i'm not sure whats going on with their vent. michelle did concede that the vented coats "tend to do that".

regardless, i'm very happy with my purchase. buy sterlingwear.
(no, i dont work for them, i'm just really happy.)
