Hello everyone!

This is my first post here so let me know if this is the wrong subforum to post this question on. I wanted to order Meermin double monk strap shoes. I wear size 7 (U.S.) in Ellen Edmonds monk strap shoes. What size should I order in meermin? Also, what are the advantages of getting rubber soled shoes? In your opinion, are they accepted as somewhat formal nowadays? Would rubber sole shoes last longer than leather? Can I get them resoled?

Thanks!

You should go to a bricks and mortar shop and buy there. Every manufacturer works in a different way, using its own lasts, materials and methods and for many people X does not equal Y.

Leather soles are more appropriate for business although these days some type of rubber soled shoe such as ECCOs are acceptable in some sectors. In law and higher end accountancy leather is needed.

Rubber cannot breath and so can be less good for some than leather - I would suspect leather has the shorter life - though you will see some shoe leather soled shows with rubber inserts and at one time rubber heels with leather soles was a common choice. You takes you choice.

Both can be repaired.

Welcome to the forum. Plenty of Meermin sizing info here http://www.styleforum.net/t/277707/meermin-mallorca-shoes. Rubber do last a bit longer than leather and are great for wet weather. They can be resoled. Best of luck.
