Still waiting to hear from Pepe;I sent him an email already. I guess there is a long que as Springline makes not only shoe trees but also lasts for a lot of brands.I think Vass has the same problem with their 3 piece shoe trees at the moment. Actually, I think the hatchgrain looks like that due to the photographs I took;IRL it looks exactly like the G&G hatchgrains.Sorry!:)

Can we just get a refund on the trees, if they are going to take much longer?

No problem -- I missed that reply of yours, I thought it was meant for the new MTOs!

Don't leave the meermin thread, Ozzy, you'd certainly be missed! Besides, you've done an excellent job organizing the austerity boot MTO! Just ignore posts you don't like, there's an option to hide them.

Block people cos I disagree with them? Nah, not my style. I'll give as good as I get but find my troll resistance is getting low. Better to bow out gracefully (or disgracefully!)
I'm here til the boots drop anyway

Maybe the leather is not finished yet or not finished properly.

    Hahahahahaaaaaa! True dat!

Pepe sent me a pair of 2mm insoles for my museums, they feel better straight off. Awesome customer service again cos at the end of the day I ordered the wrong size and he didn't owe me anything. (Well, except a pair of shoe trees!!)

How is our boot order by the way: the deets are decided on? Why did we not go for a double rubber sole? Why the heck single? I just realized...

    Hey guys,

Been a lurker for a while but reading and learning from all the wisdom here, and really appreciate the sharing! So when I saw the news about Meermin, jumped right in and ordered
from the Maestro Line. Guess what? I just got hit with custom/brokerage fees of $131.13!!. I told the UPS guy, "What?!" He says he does not know anything, he can't explain it.
Now, I read about guys getting hit with fees of $30 - $40, but this is crazy. Not to mention, the quality control problem already discussed is there too. Look at the pictures.

The brogue work on the right shoes shows that not all the holes are
punched completely. There is some leather remaining.

The sole looked like someone had already worn them, maybe
to test? This is right out of the box. Not a big deal to me.

    So my total cost is $330 + $131.13 = $461.13! Meermin's value proposition
starts to fade away at these prices. Had anyone else been hit with
such high fees? What is going on here?

    Thanks!

@ New Shoes1: No, I live in southern California. I posted the UPS tracking details, but it is not showing up yet since I am a new member.

Really scratching my head about this one! I would feel terrible about not being able to order more shows from Meermin. Help!

But at the same time I have the raw hatchgrain samples from G&G and none looks the same. I think Meermin needs to find a way to finish the leather properly; i.e., instead of just using same shade wax polishes, maybe talk to AA Crack on how to apply burnishing creams and such.
