If you think about it, you really need to nail the sizing on these things.

If you need to return, you are instantly out the $50 in duties you paid, will likely pay another $50 duty on the new pair, then you're out another $25 for shipping to you and $35 to ship back.

$160 loss to return a $300 pair of shoes stings.

You should be refunded the duty if you return them. Never know, you might get lucky and not get charged on the replacements!
Still out $60 in shipping though

Depends on the last... I wear UK 8 in most Trickers lasts (4444, 4497s, 4537) but 8.5 in Meermin Ama and Olfe.

Refund the duty? Going through all those paper works with our third world civil servants in America? Good luck!

Would be interested to know what MTO you are planning.

Correct, outline and measure your own foot, scan them on A4 and send it to Meermin. They will be able to judge your size.

Take a full size down like Lobbs and C&Js for length.

Stay away from anything narrower than Ben/Hiro. And even for Ben/Hiro, you would need to request extra width for your forefoot (big or small toe area). I know I did.

AE measured me to be 10D. On my own measurements I am 9.5EE and 10.5E on left and right. Wide at the front, narrow at heel. Wears 9E JL/C&J and 9.5E EG for non-cap toe designs. Need wide for cap-toe designs. On Meermin, I am size 9 in Ben last (but always needs a lot of extra width)

I'm definitely interested in joining a group MTO with the hatchgrain leather. Do you have any decisions in what model you're going with for this one?

Hi, I'm also new to the thread, skimmed through most of the pages looking at photos.
As a student I sure appreciate the pricepoint of Meermins shoes and I think, like most other poster in the thread, that the quality for the price is hard to beat. However I agree that the quality control needs to be improved.
I currently own two pair of shoes from Meermin, the classic dubmonk in suede and the black linea mastero dubmonk. I've seen pictures of these posted before so I think I'm not gonna share pictures of my own. However, if anyone is intrested just say so and I'll post some pics.

I've been thinking a lot of what to buy next and disregarding the long winters here in Sweden, I think the choice will fall upon the tasseled loafers in leather and the semi-brouge oxfords in suede.

I haven't seen that many pictures of the tassel loafers in leather, could some share this?
    Thanks

That's not quite what I was describing. What I meant, was that Meermin is manufacturing a standard set of shoes based on demand that they can gauge from online orders, but limit the rate of production to keep their assets in cash rather than inventory and facilities, which decreases their working capital. Offering MTO without additional charge would increase working capital, and wouldn't be sensible for such a small operation. Another benefit of limiting their rate of production is that demand exceeds supply and they can easily accomodate for cancelled orders, but this wouldn't work if everyone was ordering different configurations.

Anyway, I sent payment a couple days ago am really hoping I'll have a black pair of shoes to wear for an upcoming gala in 2 weeks. Also can't wait to get my double monks [IMG]
