Nah, you're right in that it's still a useful indicator of quality, generally. Though, if a product has proven itself, then where it's made becomes less relevant is all. Also, for me, U.S.-made with U.S.-sourced materials is always my priority, so beyond that, everything non-U.S. is fair game for me, lol.

Between this and your jodhpur... These are created on existing lasts, correct? So just bespoke patterns for you? How much of a premium is this costing you, roughly, to have Meermin create for you whatever you desire?

Well said. I think shoes are still in the "development" stage for outsourcing, but they will get there eventually. You can tell differences in finishing quality among shoes made in some countries. It probably means less in terms of build quality, but the "polish" is not there yet.

Late stage. Saint Crispins and Vass set up their factory off site at cheap labor Eastern bloc. Zonkey Boots outsource to Italy. John Lobb outsourced to EG and insourced later. G&G outsourced to AS and now insourced.

UK bespoke makers still outsource their work. JLP insources everything so does small artisan makers.

Nothing wrong about outsourcing to China or Vietnam, quality is dependent on the company, not by their contractors. See Apple.

I'll post pics using my dslr. I went with olfe because I liked the asymetrical toe shape but preferred the slimmer profile relative to AMA.

These are made from the burgundy shell

Pepe sent me this a few days ago, regarding the MTO program. If anyone is interested, these are the prices they quoted, but, like with any company, they are subject to change.

If anyone feels it's improper for me to post it, I will gladly retract it.

No problem. I think people just need to remember to subtract VAT (of 21%?) if they are outside the EU and add in about $35 in shipping if they live in the US.

I can confirm the current processing times.

Unfortunately, the squeaking of my Ama wholecuts didn't get any better, perhaps even worse. So I wrote Sandro about it on December 19. I hoped, the issues could be fixed rather easily, but he told me that I would have to return the shoes. I received more information about the return details on January 3. I shipped the shoes the following day and they arrived at Meermin January 14. So far, I haven't received a notice that the new pair has been shipped.

Therefore, you should be willing to wait a while for your shoes if you order at the present time.

So shoe trees come free now? Any chance that will also apply to group buys?
