    awesome.

now that I know that these fit, I'm excited for the brown punch toe oxfords that I actually need. They should be awesome.

Google says to throw baby powder down inside the shoe.

A good, leather made shoe should squeak; if you don't like squeaks, stick with Steve Madden and the like.

Any of you guy's gonna get the chukka's that they posted on their Tumblr?
I'm not sure whether to pay up and delay saving up for my carmina wingtips or whether I should just put my money towards the wingtips instead?
    (sorry can't post links now)

Ok, that means the squeaking is indeed normal? Could anyone confirm that?

I vaguely remember having read about a squeaking shoe and it was recommended to return the shoe because it was considered a defect. But I am not sure if I remember this correctly, so I would be glad about more opinions on that topic.

    Thank you very much!

So the cost of Meermin in cordovan leather is 320 euros (including VAT) while Carmina cordovan is 525 with VAT. After deducing, the prices are around 256 and 420 euros correspondingly. It is obvious that Meermin is not on a par with Carmina in term of quality like finishing etc. But Meermin seems pretty good with their prices.

Half serious. I know for a fact that in my grandfather days shoes were made to squeak on purpose; not so sure these days.
But considering the fact that a quality shoe, like those featured and approved here are made of at least 99% leather all welted and not glued... the squeak comes from leather rubbing on leather, somewhere in the sole area.
Not sure this is a manufacturing defect or not, probably not.
I have shoes that are SF approved and that squeak, and I cannot see that as a defect.
My opinion, and I'm not an expert in shoe making though.

So below are my new shoes!

As for impression, I seriously think it is beyond AE by quite a margin. Closed channel, slick last, and handwelt to say a few. For the average snarky SF member, a very close look asks for better finish but it is fine for me. Shoes were very comfortable from the start. Leather is a little stiff which should require some breaking but that is not a negative.

Forgive me for my lack of shoe terminologies, but what I really am impressed at this price point is how well balanced the outter sole is for each shoe, you can see in the pictures taken the front of the shoes. I think this is a sign of long lasting soles and would be worn properly from the middle of the sole to outer edge.

    Pictures!

well, closed channel doesn't add any value to me, nor does it make the shoe any longer lasting. its an appearance thing.

handwelt seems to be a claimed benefit, but given the percentage of issues inherent in goodyear shoes, I see no need to worry about the longevity of a goodyear shoe.

The rest is appearance. its definitely a more slick look than AE, whether thats a good thing or not is generally a style/personality determination.

    Enjoy your shoes!
