Can you elaborate? Looking to purchase a pair of shell longwings and would like to know what to expect.

Is there anything that can be done on Meermin's end to simplify shipping for us?

They fit really well. I have never worn a monk, so I need to get used to putting them on. Small blemish on the finishing, but it's located where no one would see it.

It is brown-here are some better pictures:

Quick sizing question, I was looking at picking up a pair from B&S but wanted to get some sizing info before I decided. I have a pair of AE PA's in an 11 that is a tiny bit too small for me (sized down 1) what size should I be looking at for the Hiro last? Would an 11uk be a decent fit?

If your AEs are in a size 11 and are a bit small, 10UK Hiro would probably work for you depending on whether it's length or width issues. If too short, then 10.5UK hiro, if too narrow, then 10UK Hiro

The short version is, UPS charges a brokerage fee even if you don't get hit with customs fees. They make you pay the brokerage fee COD to the delivery driver, and apparently it has to be a certified check or money order.

The long version is, that took three delivery attempts, four trips to the UPS store next to my office, and one trip to the bank to accomplish successfully, because UPS doesn't give complete info about these situations on their website and won't let you pay the brokerage fee online or by credit card at the UPS store.

I don't know what Meermin could do except send the shoes via a method that would be handed off to the USPS. Has anyone successfully had them do that?

My MTO cordovan NST were delivered today, wearing them as I write this. Thought I would share some photographs, please endure my photography skills, or lack thereof. The images haven't been altered in any way, shape or form.,I simply couldn't be bothered to resize them.

The color is quite hard to capture properly, because it changes so much depending on the light. As I carried them outside to photograph them they changed from black to brown to what I can only describe as a muted cherry. Indoors they appear quite dark brown.

As for the fit, I wear a UK9 in C&J 341, UK8.5 in C&J 335 and a 9 in pretty much everything else I've tried on. After consulting Pepe for advice I ordered a UK9.5, and it seems to fit quite well. Perhaps a tiny bit of heel slippage, but if that isn't solved by breaking them in then a tongue pad will solve it. I have wiggle room for my toes, which is my preference, but my feet aren't swimming in the shoes. I'd consider it a good fit for my feet.

That would be correos, which is not the most reliable and quite slow. Seems like they were always Fedex before, which had a few forms to fill out but wasn't too bad. Did you request UPS?

No, that's just what they decided to use.

OK, here are my shoes. Burgundy PTBs, RTW. I'm not sure what to think about them.

Well, let me back up - when I saw these pics Jake posted of his shell norwegians in progress, it set off some warning bells - or at least question bells - in my head. Anyone who's seen Horween shells before they're made up knows they never have a rough, matte finish like this - they pretty much have the gloss and smoothness of the final product when they send them to the factories. Apparently this Argentinian shell is different, and the finish is applied by Meermin after the shoes are made up.

I don't know if this applies to orders entering the US, but I know that when shipping to Canada, brokerage fees are only charged when shipping with the cheaper UPS options (ground, saver). All of their shipping options with "international" in the name include brokerage. Maybe Meermin can upgrade their shipping to this? From experience, it only costs a few dollars more and saves the ridiculous fees charged by UPS and all the other shipping companies. Even USPS charges brokerage I believe, but at a much more reasonable price.

those look like a whole lot of MEH, especially given the ridiculous shipping/customs nonsense

I'd talk to them about it. Doesn't seem like a common occurrance with their shell shoes.

+1. Based on past history, I bet they exchange for a new pair.
