I know meermin has a pair on their facebook with a "mottled" effect on a burgundy pair. Not sure if it was from the same source.

How does the Rui fit relative to the Hiro? 9.5 in the Hiro is a great fit for me and I'd like to try a pair of the longwings.

Pepe informed me that he will be contacting these tanneries on the price of the museum calf. He is also checking with his usual tanneries on whether they have the same type of calf. He said he will revert to me back on the price (hopefully today/tomorrow); if he uses the calfs sourced from Ilcea, it will be more expensive. But this will be the most exclusive Meermins they have ever made [IMG]

This group buy will be limited to 15 pairs only as that is the number I think will be easy to managed so if your interested, drop me your email via PM. I will update those who participate via email on the cost; specs etc.

I'm hoping the final color is darker. This is almost like tan museum ;)

Can we have some with a different last because it is impossible to fit my foot on any of the lasts you guys are using; hiro etc. My feet are wide and go with nothing less than the Rui

I don't know anything about JL switching to misty because of costs, but either way - I have a pair of JL Citys on the 7000 last, and Meermin derbys on the Hiro last. If it helps people, I can take a photo of the two for your comparison.

Dieworkwear, that would be great :slayer: Pepe advised me that it would look great in either the Hiro or Olfe last.

That colour is fine. Doesn't necessarily have to be brown museum calf exactly like JL's. The fact that Meermin can/is willing to source for a museum calf leather is good enough, and I think I like that leather terrorsquad posted.

+1 for Olfe. Though I personally prefer a chiseled toe, so Ben would be nice too. But the consensus seems to be for Olfe/Hiro, so...

Definitely no Rui though. It just won't look as elegant anymore.

Or maybe we could ask them to make them on different lasts? Say, from a choice of 3. Just like the previous Austerity brogues in either dark brown or burgundy. I imagine it would be a bit tougher for lasts (maybe even at higher costs), but no harm asking.

I prefer the darker brown as the shoes would be more versatile. Also, the Hiro last is more versatile as well.

Chester Mox uses both shades of that Ilcea leather, and you can compare the shades at Hodinkee.

I personally think the lighter shade would be very difficult to wear, but I also dislike loud shoes.
