They look beautiful! Is this the brown or burgundy heritage cordovan?

Het Gbandi. Got a question for you since you have chelsea's in both HOK and ROD last. I have a ROD chelsea myself which in the beginning quickly started to become uncomfortable (chafing the smaller toes). I decided to leave out the insert and now the boots fit fine, albeit still slightly narrow near the toebox. Would you say the ROD last without insert fits the same as your HOK chelsea's?

I am thinking of getting a negon last boot. It's said to slightly roomier then the HOK. So now I am wondering if I should size up halve a size from my ROD last or trust that the negon is more roomy.

My Hok is 1.5 size down from brannock and rod is 1 down and fits the same with inserts. Without inserts you can go 1.5down. Ordered Negon same size as Hok

Thanks for the info Gbandi. I am tempted to try halve a size up, since my current ROD's without insole are still a bit narrow. However, maybe it was the right choice for a chelsea boot, since you lack the option of tying the laces for a tighter fit.
Thanks! These are burgundy color
Oh wow. Didn't expect that! The burgundy option looks so much darker on the website, whereas the brown option looks a tad lighter. I am jealous of your MTO captoe. They only offer the plain-toe burgundy right now. Could you share a few more pictures of your boots in different lighting? No hurries though.

Btw you can have thinner insoles from Meermin. I ended up getting the thinnest ones and the fit is almost the same ass HOK. Then a bit of usage and ROD has transformed to really nice fitwise

Thanks for the advise, but I don't think it will work. I received two sets of insoles with my ROD chelseas; one of 3mm and one of 5mm thickness. I tried using the 3mm ones for 2 months before giving up. I know Meermin used to sell 1.5mm ones but they have not been available for a long time.

Since the 3mm didn't work, the 5mm were of-course completely redundant. So I ended up stripping the memory foam layer from the leather part with some pliers and a heatgun. Which went surprisingly easily. I then put the leather part of the insole in my boots with some very thin double-sided tape. I don't think you can go any thinner than that. Quite happy with the results ever since.

Hi, I recently received a pair of Rust Waxy Commander Chelsea boots in the mail, and to my disappointment one of the boots had a small but noticable gash on the leather.

Meermin support through email just gave me a copy and pasted response for a different boot, and suggested getting dubbin wax (a product not on the store with a broken link). A store employee that I spoke told me to get mink oil. So, I'm a bit confused.

As I'm unsure their advice is pertinent, would anyone have any suggestions on what to do and what to use to cover it up as best possible?
By now you will have probably figured it out by yourself, but like others already replied to you; you will experience some aggressive patina with these. I got the same as yours and here are some pictures I took. I really think the name "rust" is a good fit with these. Not only because of the color, but also because of how the patina progresses. Indoors in the shadow they are mostly 'boring' brown boots. But in the sun they really shine.

Regarding the Hok/Rod sizing discussion: Rod insole will get thinner with wear, allowing for more volume, but in my experience it will never reach the Hok volume, it will always feel smaller.
For ex. I bought Rod boots in 8 UK and using another very thin insole it fits like Hok 7.5UK volume wise, but it is not perfect fit for me because it is still a bit longer and I like my heels locked in the shoes. Let's say it is OK, but not the boots I always reach out to when going out.

Another remark, the double city lug insole is deadly on wet slippery surfaces. The worst I had so far. Dainite are much more grippy compared to this.

It's hard to say, as I've worn them for about 20 minutes. I don't want to jump to conclusions on the fit since I have so little experience with it, but I ordered the same size I wear for HOK.
The toe box may be a bit wider but considerably flatter

So far, I was able to wear these for a full day and I'm wearing them right now. Please keep in mind that my experience may be very different from yours as we most certainly don't have the same feet.
I have long and narrow flat feet, meaning I have a very low instep and kinda struggle to find boots that aren't too wide, but long enough. HOK and ROD are good lasts for me, especially ROD which I find a bit more snug, for HOK I use 3/4 insoles which help elevate my arch and therefore my instep, making the fit pretty spot on.
Now, regarding the Negon boots, I can confirm the fit seems much better for me, as the instep is lower, the boot is certainly wide but I don't particularly feel it's wider than HOK, except maybe at the toes where I have definitely enough room in terms of width. The toebox is however much more flat which leads to a snug fit around the toes, the heel is rather snug as well, which I appreciate. My ankles are also rather thin, meaning the quarters get pretty close in the shaft area. I have not yet decided whether I should put my 3/4 insoles in these, but I'm considering the option.
I also find that fit is very dependent of leather. I had HOK boots in Country calf which felt tighter than my kudu boots. These Negon are Saddle calf, which I believe won't stretch as much as kudu.
