Hi @Meermin, I've had these shell cordovan boots for 3 months now and worn them a bunch, but the right boot still manages to chafe my ankle raw even after a short walk while wearing thick socks. The heel stiffener rubs against my ankle bone constantly, and there's some odd creasing in the leather at the ankle which makes me think the heel stiffener is too large maybe?

I know Meermin shoes have a reputation for a hard break-in, but these should be broken in by now, and with the way the stiffener juts out I'm not sure if it ever will be comfortable. Any advice or anything you can do to help with this?
Hi Sir!
We can't tell if there are any problems with the boots from those pics.
We could have a look at the if you are concerned about the boot structure.
Please DM us to deal with the situation in detail.

I think some meermins are just a pain to break-in. For example : shell longwing from shinki (It killed my foot for half a year), the rocado shell split-toe, comfy from the start....

to Meermin: any plans to do another croc mto? Perhaps a chelsea boot?

Seriously though, the heel blisters happened to me on all of the Meermin pairs I have and now keep bandaids with me for the ones I still wear.
That happens with Meermin and shouldn't be a thing. I suffered a lot with my Hiro suede oxfords and they stretched a lot later. Also suffered with my black oxfords from linea Maestro and the cap toe sometimes still rubs my toes.

One shouldn't have to suffer to wear dress shoes nor need to use bandaids or thick socks in order to be able to wear them and not end up with their feet all wounded and with blisters that turn into calluses. The leather linings aren't gentle to the feet and the uppers are really tough.

These days with my Linea Maestro which have been making squeaky noises for a while when I end up up my shift at work and I remove them I find cork pieces laying around in the insole... which means that the cork is spilling out of the footbed on to the insole from the sides.

I won't be considering them anymore in the future, I won't throw away mine because they are my beaters but still...not on my to buy list anymore.

The Olive shell Jumper thankfully has finally arrived, and since they are shearling lined, it’s a good time to get them.
The colors are more brown than Olive, but still very nice tones of brown nevertheless. Though not completely satisfied with the color, I’m pleased with the final result.

Got my first meermins, elton captoe oxfords. They are my funeral/wedding shoes, as I don't really need oxfords otherwise. I'll have to break them in over the next couple weeks so I won't have mangled feet should a day-long formal occasion arise.

I'm glad I went elton, as its quite comfortably snug, and since hiro=rain, it would have been too tall.

This lacing is snug, almost tight, and looks ok to me. I could probably shut it but would rather let that happen naturally, if it does at all.

Is it just me or is the cap ridiculously big and a little too close to the creasing?

@stephenaf2003 - That's a really lovely colour.

Personally, I prefer the more brownish colour to a more greenish colour.
different strokes....on the positive side, the patina should result in an interesting looking boot for a short time. I’m considering putting them out in the sun for a few days, and seeing what happens.

They’re an almost identical colour to mine.
Yes, when I saw yours, a sudden feeling of dread over took me. As I opened the box, the anxiety was palpable, only to realize my worst fear.

But hey, as a self proclaimed shell aficionado and extreme lover of shell, any pair of shell boots are a good pair of boots.;)
