I need to read this thread.

We lived in a 6000+sq ft home on 1.3 acre lot for past 5 years. Sold it 2 weeks ago and are now in a 1600 sq ft town home....till we build a bigger home....[IMG]

    Regards.

You sold it in this market? Did you get a decent price?

We absorbed a loss of ~20%.

That "brick" or whatever the fuck it is looks so awful. I get angry every time I see that garbage.

You should set yourself up with a nice little place in the green hills of the Motherland. You can retreat there when the pressure of Albany overwhelms you. It could be a Camp David of sorts for state level political strategy sessions.

Maybe I'm missing your point here, but in my village there are 250+ of those houses. Don't get me wrong, I like the style, but they are basic fare for English countryside.

It's all the more depressing that optimal homes are so accessible to so many who choose not to live in them.

Nothing wrong with basic fare...everybody has to live somewhere. The key difference is that you like the style of your basic fare even if it can get a bit boring.

The basic fare of recent construction in the US is more like the link I posted a few pages back...

    Are you stalking me?

Believe it or not, from this picture I was able to figure out the address of this house within just a few minutes using Google maps. It is about 3 miles as the crow flies from my house and about 2.5 miles as the crow flies from the McMansion I used to own.

    Plano is McMansion central.

Not usually. I help sweep up around here to earn a few extra bucks, but they try to keep me isolated from the regular members. Occassionally I jump in anyway and hope the mods aren't watching.

Someone beat me to you. It's actually a still from what I assume is a really shitty documentary by some disgruntled independent filmmaker. [IMG] http://www.flickr.com/photos/therefo...ith/301482242/

So the front of the house part of that house isn't so bad...Wouldn't be my pick but whatever. WTF happened to the garage though? I mean...seriously?
the pickup truck is parked in front of garage door that's too small for it. So I must assume there's another minivan or huge SUV that parks next to the pickup in the huge "main" garage".
