In Manhattan, Joe the Art of coffee and Ninth Street Espesso offer some next level espresso and cappuccino. If you live near onevof their locations you should definitely check them out.

Thanks for the recommendations! I think I've been to the Joe's near NYU, but I'll have to check out Ninth Street Espresso. There are a number of great coffee places in the city that's for sure. My personal favorite coffee shop is 71 Irving in the Gramercy Park area. Sadly for me, I still live up near my alma matter Columbia. The only coffee shop in the area is Max Caffe where the only thing worse than the service is the coffee (nice ambiance tho).

I've never thought Sbux service was that extraordinary, it's usually just some teen asking you what you want in your coffee.

The McCafes in Hong Kong are pretty good and offer better coffee than Starbucks, though at Mac's they sometimes burn the beans... my favourite 'chain' is Cova, their pistachio gelato is gorgeous.

It was just announced Starbucks is cutting 12,000 jobs and shutting down 600 undeperforming units.

I guess their lets-have-a-starbucks-across-the-street-from-each-other strategy is coming to an end?

Gee, what took them so long? Shouldn't they always be shutting down underperforming units?

I've heard McDonald's coffee is actually good, but I've never tried it.
Tim Horton's is the big daddy in Canada.

Starbucks has always tasted like it's over-roasted and burned, as if it's the bottom of the pot dried coffee mucuous being re-hydrated.

On the other hand, I like to fill my sterling Thermos full of Kopee Luwak cat poop kawfee and take it along in the car.

How does it taste? I'm not quite sure I have the gonads to give it a try.

not only is their iced coffee the bomb and at a great price of half the starbucks would charge,

i recently received a coupon through the mail for buy one get one free.

the thing is, lot of the apt tenants around here throw away their junk mail flyers automatically without sifting through it, so i went through the junk mail and pulled out several of those coupons.

now i have buy one get one free iced coffee for the month of july!!

Starbucks sucks. And how much of a loser do you have to be to sit in Starbucks for three hours reading a book? Back in the day and in the old country a coffee house was a place where people met to discuss the important issues of the day in a very animated way. No, only art history douches sit around there in silence ordering some faggoty quasi-coffee drinks afraid to talk to the goth chick in the next booth who's on her laptop writing stories about people who cut themselves. That's some bullshit.

McDonalds on the other hand serves several very useful purposes (including a place to get some burgers at 2:00 a.m. when you're hammered as someone already mentioned).

You know what? It's very smooth, without any acid at all. I always use cream in my coffee, but this stuff I could drink black.

As far as purity - it's more sterile than the stuff you buy in the supermarket. It is regularly lab tested for pathogens, bacteria etc at a major university lab, and test results prove it is cleaner and safer than a cup of "Folgers" or whathaveyou from Colombia.

Quite pricey, maybe not worth it as a regular everyday cup of joe, but certainly will give your friends a jolt in more ways than one when you tell them what it is they're drinking.

BTW - It packs a hell of a punch in the caffeine - much more than a regular cup.

Go for it. You have the gonads.

The best stuff on the planet is available at: www.animalcoffee.com
The owner's name is Troy and he's done a fantastic international job of marketing this stuff. Beautifully packaged and carefully shipped to any destnation. Home base is located in Sumatra/Indonesia.
You'll even see a major plot reference to his product in the flick: "The Bucket List" with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.
