I've been carrying around a Pellegrino bottle wherever I go recently for an "editorial project", and the other night I filled it with Miller High Life and walked the dog around the neighborhood.

Over here frantically monitoring social media, hoping this Jacob Wohl post doesn't bring down the whole damn magazine.

@gdl203 I just listened to your Hand Cut Radio interview, and I have to say I felt personally attacked in your condemnation of "sprezzatura". I'll have you know that the sauce stains on my clothes are very much genuine. Not saying I'm a maverick, but I'm certainly not following any prescribed "look" with my basement shut-in vibe and persona thank you very much.

Sauce stains are the real deal. Also I didn’t bring this topic up - I don’t feel as strongly as Aleks about fake sprezz. It’s a bit silly but doesn’t bother me as much

Well then, feeling a little less attacked. And besides, you or Aleks haven't even seen the way I leave the heel strap on my Crocs undone when I wear them with conservative business dress. Very natural!

Never thought tats were a good idea. Too permanent for me. Maybe reflecting my middle class, suburban upbringing?

Seems like the fad is thankfully fading. Nothing wrong with a tat or two but it's gotten a bit outrageous. Even the Army started clamping down on them just as I retired.

I've always disliked them. Awful, ugly things.

What weight (and weave) should I look for in a four-ish season cotton trouser? I'd like it to hold an OK crease and but not be too hot for summer

Why cotton? Do cotton trousers come off the peg in anything by plainweave and twill? If you are not opposed to wool I would go with a lightweight 9 or 10 oz gabardine, or even a heavier fresco.

I have linen-cotton canvas pants that I wear year round in the southern states. Great ~11oz draping fabric, wears cooler than twills in summer yet doesn't let in the breeze in cooler temps. They don't hold a crease as well as wool but a pressing will easily last a couple days.

If I were in cooler climes and wanted something as versatile it would probably be a wool flannel or gabardine, like they used to wear in the old days.

"Others suggest a correction is coming and suits will return in force. For one thing, there are signs of a recession. Recessions lead to unpredictability, and people seek comfort in old traditions, even expensive, uncomfortable traditions."

Not sure about that but it's comforting. I guess living here in DC skews my opinions as we all wear suits as a matter of course. The perfect equalizer if done right of course.
