So I really love this sweater. I suspect it may be from De Bonne Facture, but I was late to the party. Anybody have any tips on who makes these or something similar? I’ve checked most of the British/Irish knitters that I know (Inis etc).

Would it be a mismatch to wear spread collar poplin shirts with chinos (epaulet rivet chinos, for example)? I used to wear trousers + poplin/twill spread collar shirts most days, but I'm switching locations for work and the new dress code is less formal. I don't really want to invest in all new shirts so I was hoping I could just switch the trousers to chinos. Any thoughts?

It's fine - you're not going to discard all your spread collar shirts and buy a bunch of buttoned collar just because of that. Consider wearing a soft second layer (chore jacket, field jacket, shirt/jacket, light cardigan) to complete the look. Pants and long sleeves shirt is a look that feels unfinished, for lack of a better word.

Thanks for your thoughts, Greg. I had never thought about it that way before, but I definitely see what you mean about it seeming "unfinished"

Academia folks: Is it true you might have access to digitized copies of books, newspapers, etc, that us non-academia folks don't have access to? If so, do you know if Apparel Arts has been digitized and uploaded anywhere (other than in bits and pieces on the London Lounge)? A university library in my area has physical copies, but it would take something like $45k for me to flip through one of those.

They're not available in my library, although I didn't search through the interlibrary loan program. IIRC, the NY Public Library has a full set and supposedly so does Parsons.

Oh wait, just saw you said digitized. No, I don't know where they're digitized outside of LL

One more thing: there's a compendium of the best of AA. I'm not at home right now, but have a copy. I can see what's the title later. You can find the compendium online for a few hundred bucks sometimes.

Found one of those sweaters I was looking for in a nice taupe. It’s not cheap and made by a company I am not familiar with, Holiday Boileau. Anybody have experience with their stuff?

How would one wear silk pants? Found these RLPL and I like the pattern and cut but have zero experience with silk clothes. What kind of sport coat goes with these? Navy blazer?

Isn't silk supposed to be hot to wear (no pun intended!)?

It's a French brand with Gauthier Borsarello as creative director. I don't believe they have any manufacturing facilities themselves and I have no first-hand experience of the quality but GB is always talking about quality first, so I'd assume they source good products.

Pun taken. Those kind of look like the stretchy pants men play golf in these days. They seem too thin and smooth pun intended.

I would pass on those. If you already bought them, I would style them the same way you would a pair of tropical wool or linen trousers.

I have handled other RLPL SS weight silk trousers and they are very light weight. They retain structure and shape better than linen trousers.
