Shorts are practical and utilitarian and fun. I also generally find the "never shorts" crowd are overly formulaic dressers whose sense of dressing begins and ends at board meetings.

I don’t think the board meeting suit look is really what the rulesies are all about in this forum. The ones who think they know rules are more about “Biz Caj plus” which revolves more around sports jackets and odd trousers coupled wi th split toe derbies or loafers. Or very Caj suits, lighter colors, less structure, maybe no tie, and of course split toe derbies and loafers.

that’s more of the uniform that the no shorts crew would push

Hmm. Cargo Pants at a specified black tie wedding at the Langham. Very regrettable. I can visualize a world in which the gentleman would have been escorted from the ballroom to the San Marino County line; not for crimes against fashion, but for crimes against basic propriety.

The gentleman unfortunately owns property in San Marino! Its not the Huntington/Patton days anymore, thats for sure.

I don't care if he owns property on the Moon. Your wedding, of course, but if it were mine I would have thrown him out myself.

That is the perfect example of a Snob with a capital 'S'. Not someone who dresses too well, but someone who doesn't care and wants to make a statement about it.

San Marino might have been a little too starchy for me back in the day; besides, I’m a Pasadena guy. That said, San Marino has one of the best school districts in the state, some of the best Spanish Colonial Revival style architecture in the country, and quite possibly the best classical Chinese garden outside of China. There is no question that SM punches way, way, above its weight class as a cultural force, for a town of 13,000.

I just mentioned where he lived as another data point. To illuminate that the issue with his choice of dress was not born of lack of means.

I generally agree. I am also a Pasadena guy and plan to be (unless I can engineer an escape to Kyoto). SM is a lovely place though, and the north of Huntington housing stock is nearly peerless.

I assume you're referring to the new Chinese garden at the Huntington?

In my experience, it almost never is. At least he didn't spoil the event.

I kind of wonder what happened to the Foster and Son thread. Did people just stop wearing them?

F&S RTW is done for, did their bespoke survive? I assume that JL is still cheaper than their bespoke px, so..

They still do a bespoke service, it seems. Foster and Son is a lot more expensive for sure. They don't seem to pop up too much in the bespoke shoes thread either.

Are these carried hard copy in the US? I paid the 3 euros to download but prefer paper copy to read by the pool.

Has anyone ever bought anything from Brio? I just ordered 2 linen polos in XL, using measurements provided by sales rep. Excited to see how they are.
