I was thinking of office/court use. You could go very relaxed with wider lapels and a fuller cut of course. All depends on the environment you need it for.

That's horrendous. In all seriousness, is it that the flap pockets look good, or is it that you don't notice them so they don't look bad?

Yeah, it’s very slim cut and youthful, maybe a bit too much!

I think flap or jetted works.

Sometimes certain materials can sag and bag with time, causing jetted pockets to look something like this. Same thing happens with patch pockets. In some cases, flapped helps cover up this issue.

I prefer weapons-grade lapels on DB jackets as well. Smashing suit!

Both can look good no matter your height.

to me I think it's I prefer lower buttoning point, and 4 x 1 or 6 x 1 would tend to do that better? And I guess I just mentally prefer 4 x 1 over 6 x 1.

p.s. would definitely do navy chalk stripe DB

So I've decided that to celebrate what will hopefully be a return to normalcy this year, I want to have my first double breasted suit made. I work in a formal, suit-every-day environment (rather, I will once again whenever WFH ends). This will likely be my only DB suit so I want something classic that doesn't stand out too much. Anyone have any suggestions for fabrics, patterns, styling tips, etc?

4x1 would elongate the lapels and your frame.

If you can pee without opening or lifting your jacket, it's a dead sign that it's too short (for your child)

I cannot express how much I cringe seeing most of this guy's fly poking under the jacket bottom. ?

well, if it makes you feel any better, we do know it's not how it fits in reality, at least not RL. I mean they all do this take a 38R jacket put on a 40L person thing, but at least the last time I checked, RLPL's length was still pretty sensible.

Does anyone know why menswear stores do this? Even very well respected menswear-y ones often do this (cough, cough, The Armoury).

This is true. I guess they put shorter jackets on the models to show trouser details?

Maybe it's just the cut and fabric of this specific suit but I really don't like the look of this. I think having buttons above and below the buttoning point makes the jacket look more balanced.
