It’s really hard to defend living urban right now, especially/even NYC, but I prefer it way more in theory and hating it because of circumstance is an existential crisis almost since I grew up in urban environment, went to school in urban environment and live in one.

But we have good views also, and rent is plummeting.


Nature views are really nice also, but there is definitely a personality difference between people I think because some prefer nature and some prefer this and I’m the latter. It’s hard to see eye to eye arguing which is “better” because it seems to be some deeply innate thing in my experience.

I grew up in the suburbs and later commuted to DC from Frederick, MD every day. I’m now sold on the urban thing. I love the easy commutes, the great chow and cultural activities.

Now if we could just beat Covid down so my fav bands could tour again.

The greater problem in the United State is our horrific zoning laws and endless, incomprehensible reviews processes that subject proposed developments to a gauntlet of public consultations where angry, crusading busybodies with the free time to show up shout at you, then the whole thing gets scrapped because the run-down laundromat that you wanted to replace with housing is declared historic.
