Seriously. I bet a lot of us who live in coastal real estate markets could sell off and buy a crumbling old castle.

Would this give us carte blanche to act ridiculously?

No, you'd have to inherit it. It needn't even be habitable.

I wonder if Legos count.

And they always love to use "cheers."

At least this one was using it as an exhortation. The worst use it as a sign off.

I say cheers all the time. Always have. Never really thought anything of it. The way people out here in the islands say “howzit” or bud light drinkers say “whaaaaaaz up.” Maybe it’s my New England upbringing?

Well I live in a stock exchange.

I mean, it hasn't actually been one for seventy years, but that didn't stop me from wearing a three-piece suit to buy some paper towels at Target today.

No castles for me, but the idea of picking up 50-100 acres and living the lifestyle of a country gentleman in retirement (tweed and barbours, etc) definitely appeals to me.

I was speaking from an American perspective.

I suppose its possible to pick up via osmosis, but to me it always reads as affectation (from Americans).

I see that. I would be a little like WTF if people in my area started saying “howdy” all the time. (bTW, New England is America.)

Torontonians have a habit of saying 'no worries,' too. Strange because I've encountered more Scots than Aussies.

Sometimes it's hard to get across nuance online. Especially typing on mobile while an infant sleeps on me.

To me, Americans who say cheers always seem to be the same types who call elevators lifts so they can say something like, "well when I was in London thats what everyone said."

yiu should start calling your porch or the deck at your house a “Lanai.” Make is seem like you spent some time in the Pacific islands.

I say "no worries". Is that a thing associated with a particular area?

Don't know, but I've always associated it with Aussies for some reason.

I myself prefer: "No trouble 'tal, my good fellah-me-lad. Pip pip!"

Only works if you have slaves groundskeepers and butlers/maids around to clean up after you.
