He's not talking about the edges. Look at the center of the tie near the bottom and notice how the patterns which are clearly supposed to be straight lines are actually drifting diagonally to the right when you observe it. It appears they did not line up pattern correctly when they cut the piece of silk.
I'm not seeing this. Is it in both ties above?

And now compare that to this tie. See how the bottom diamond is centered?

But if it’s handmade, why wouldn’t they at least try to align it?

this is a reasonable question but , like , only if it matters . i've never really considered this tbh ... i had to look and my hermes heavy twill doesn't co-terminate the tip and print .

i guess i've never considered the tip of a tie as an important moment unto itself ?

I see. Thanks for pointing that out.
You will notice that truly hand made ties, like Vanda or Sam Hober (both forum affiliates) do this perfectly, which makes me suspicious of artisans who claim their ties are hand made but can’t seem to get this right. I suspect they are machine made and use some hand work somewhere.

Didn't mean to come off so serious--was just pointing out where the issue was.

I feel like a whole mismatched pattern is more than just 'imperfect'--like a run/pull in fabric here or there, or a missed stitch, or a slight error somewhere is one thing to appreciate and accept [look at reddit threads and comments about shoe 'welt joins' where they act like it's the end of the world if it isn't 100% clean], but sloppiness overall/throughout is a diff thing in my view.

As a followup, I found this video by @dapperclassic with a review of Brunati Como. It's quite detailed, and from what I can tell they seem pretty nice quality!
