Yes. It's a RtW shoe made in the Paris bespoke workshop to their bespoke standards.

Yes. It's a RtW shoe made in the Paris bespoke workshop to their bespoke standards.

I'm still too cheap for this, I would go for full bespoke with $5k with someone else, JL do make good last though (7000/8000 and I guess this a tighter version of 7000)

The issue before this one never arrived, and when I e-mailed them i got a reply in french. They did send me a new one, so probably worth reaching out.

Hmmm. Agree that it’s common to elevate style vs. fashion, but disagree that women are any more/less so. I speak for myself, of course, but the plaudits of stylish people/derision of fashion victims is delivered equally on both.

Women have the ability to experiment more, which can lead to good or bad. Men are pigeon-holed into a comparatively narrower field of what is considered “normal” dress and experimentation is also considered good or bad. I’m not convinced either is sexist. It could be that I don’t search out or simply ignore websites that focus on “fashion victims.”

I’ll add that one of my favorite Instagram accounts is acjournal which catalogues mostly women over the decades that had great style.

I was, for years, such a person. I’m an unapologetic clothes horse, but I would bristle at the suggestion that I might be fashion conscious. If asked where I bought a favorite jacket or pair of shoes, I would pride myself on not remembering: “A tailor from Naples, I think…” I’d murmur with a dismissive wave, as if the question was embarrassing.

On a similar note, it’s interesting how much fashion labels in general adjusted their preferred aesthetic (specifically for men).

For example, here are a few Hugo Boss ads from the 80s:

Vs now:

Appears to be consistent with other brands too. Versace, Perry, etc... all used huge guys in their ads. Now they seem to be going for the regular/skinny look.

I don’t know what’s behind the change, but it is interesting imo.
