Another unfortunate thing about the CLS is that it doesn't have the luxury or technology that is available on either the S-Class or CL. It's a nicely appointed car for sure; however, both the S and CL offer so much more. In my view the CLS is a well appointed E-Class.

Sounds like a valid point...I haven't had to be in the back of one...people in the back don't make the payments!

Have you seen the depreciation on the Gransports? Holy ****, you can pick one up with <5K miles on it for the price of a 3 series.

Yes, I've seen low-mid mileage 04's go for considerably less than 50 grand these days. For the money, it's a great way to get into a near exotic.

Speaking of depreciation, I've seen a booklet issued by the credit arm of MB USA where they post residuals on their models after pre-set leasing period: 36 months; 48 months and so forth.
Can you guess which models had the most gawdawful depreciation ?
Their whole AMG line-up

As irony would have it, the best residual value was held by some 6-banger wifeymobile coupe

^I was quite surprised when I found out about that, this is why people have suggested purchasing AMG's secondhand.

That said, I think the S550 is a much better choice, though I don't think it's a direct comparison with Quattroporte. Early model Quattroporte's had all sorts of transmission issues because people were treating it like an auto when it in fact isn't.

Yep, and that's due to reasons stated above, the 06 and earlier models only came with the DuoSelect gearbox, which had reliability issues. People also complained about the smoothness of the gear changes. It wasn't until the 07 when a true automatic gearbox was offered.

I recently test drove a Maserati Quattroporte and was pretty impressed. Very beautiful, nice handling, excellent brakes, and pretty good acceleration. The interior is just beautiful, and the overall feel of the car is very opulent.

From my test drive, the Maserati certainly seemed like a wonderful car.

I am, but I decided to sell because I wanted to use the money to invest, so I kept my LR and bought an Audi instead. I don't take photos of my home or anything around it but I can upload a photo of the DB9 and Quattroporte in silver (my choices) in the real world on an overcast day.
